On which substrates can R'Acoustic 20 be installed?

R'Acoustic 20 can be installed indoors on four types of substrate: walls (as acoustic lining for partitions or party walls), ceilings (under concrete slabs or wooden floors, fixed using a nail gun or staples), floors (as an underlay before screed or floating parquet) and roofs (as a roof underlay to treat airborne noise and improve the acoustic comfort of attics). Its surface mass of 1.8 kg/m² and compressive strength of over 2 t/m² enable it to retain its dimensional stability under load.

Is R'Acoustic 20 effective against impact noise?

The LNEC test for R'Acoustic 20 focuses on the attenuation of airborne noise (voices, television, music), for which the Rw performance of 50 dB is applicable in accordance with EN ISO 717-1. Impact noise (footsteps, impacts, objects falling onto the floor) is covered by a separate standard, EN ISO 717-2, and is not covered by the Rw measurement. For projects where the priority is comfort under a floating floor, Ceilingo offers the R'BULL Pro 5s, a 5 mm underlay for floating floors.

Is an air gap required to achieve Rw 50 dB?

The Rw 50 dB rating is measured at LNEC on a double-skin wall incorporating a 30 mm air gap between the two brick facings. This air gap acts as a mechanical decoupler between the two faces and contributes directly to the system’s overall performance. The Rw 50 dB value therefore characterises the complete system (290 mm wall) and not the insulation alone.
