R'BULL Pro 13: controlling thermal radiation

R'BULL Pro 13 is a 13 mm thin, multi-layer reflective insulation material with two sides of pure aluminium. It is classified as B-s1,d0 in accordance with standard EN 13501-1 and covered by European Technical Assessment ETA 22/0178. When combined with two unventilated air gaps, it achieves a thermal resistance of R = 1.60 m².K/W in accordance with standard EN ISO 22097:2023. It incorporates genuine pure aluminium reflective sheets (rather than aluminised polymer films) within a structure designed to limit heat transfer and maintain performance over time. Discover R'BULL reflective technology.

01

6.5 microns of thermal precision

Reduced to 6.5 microns, our aluminium foil limits heat build-up and optimises the reflection of thermal radiation. The result: less heat absorbed, more energy reflected

02

A high-performance infrared mirror

Thanks to pure aluminium with very high reflectivity, R'BULL Pro 13 has an emissivity of 0.05 and a solar factor of less than 0.03. It acts as a thermal mirror capable of reflecting infrared radiation outwards or inwards, depending on the installation configuration.

03

A structure designed to limit heat transfer

Our air bubbles keep the reflective sheets at a distance from the blue polyethylene foam core. This design reduces direct contact, enhances the reflective properties of the aluminium and helps limit heat transfer for better long-term efficiency.

How to enhance your roof insulation with reflective insulation

Don’t replace your insulation. Enhance it.

R'BULL Pro 13 is designed to complement your traditional insulation (glass wool, rock wool, wood) and effortlessly meet the RE 2020 standards and requirements for major renovations (BAR-TH-175).

  • Unused loft space: Add 5.40 m².K/W to meet the 7 m².K/W requirement.
  • Roof slopes: Add 4.40 m².K/W to aim for 6 m².K/W.
  • Interior walls: Only 2.10 m².K/W needs to be added to reach 3.7 m².K/W.
  • Ground floors: Add 1.40 m².K/W to meet the required 3 m².K/W.

The Roof

Roof tiles and battens provide the first line of defence against solar gain. Thanks to the roof’s natural ventilation, some of the heat is dissipated before it even reaches the living space.

02

The R'BULL Pro 13 Shield

13 mm of technology designed for performance. Its two pure aluminium sides reflect 95% of solar radiation before it is converted into heat. Airtight and moisture-proof, R'BULL Pro 13 helps to provide long-lasting protection for your loft.

03

The Active Air Gap

Created through the use of R'BULL Pro 13, this airtight air gap complements the system’s efficiency. It reduces residual heat transfer and helps maintain a better thermal balance, in both summer and winter.

04

The Finish

The plasterboard on hangers ensures a clean and neat finish. To further enhance the overall performance, it is recommended to add fibre insulation to improve overall thermal comfort.

Ceilingo’s expertise in a few questions

Everything you need to know about R'BULL Pro 13 technology.

Is 13 mm thick really enough to insulate properly?
Absolutely. The strength of R'BULL Pro 13 lies not in its physical thickness, but in its multi-layer reflective technology. Combined with two unventilated air gaps, it achieves a thermal resistance of R = 1.60. It acts as a genuine shield, reflecting thermal energy rather than simply absorbing it like conventional wool.
Why is the R'BULL Pro 13 the specialist in summer comfort?
Thanks to its exceptional emissivity (ε = 0.05) and solar factor (S), it reflects 95% of the roof’s infrared radiation. It prevents heat from penetrating your loft, completely eliminating the ‘kettle effect’ during heatwaves.
What does the B-s1,d0 fire rating (public access buildings) guarantee?
This classification certifies the R'BULL Pro 13’s excellent fire performance in accordance with European standards. It is therefore fully approved for use in Public Access Buildings (ERP). Its compliance simply requires it to be covered on the inside with a standard thermal barrier (such as standard plasterboard). This finishing layer is sufficient to ensure the regulatory protective role (15 minutes for walls, 30 minutes for ceilings).
Is R'BULL Pro 13 ACERMI-certified?
No, and it is worth understanding why. ACERMI certification, a voluntary French scheme, is primarily suited to bulk insulation materials (mineral wool, polystyrene, foams) whose performance is based on an intrinsic thermal resistance measured independently of installation. To date, no thin reflective insulation comparable to R'BULL Pro 13 is listed in this database, as the framework is unsuitable for this type of technology. For thin reflective systems, the recognised European standard is the European Technical Assessment (ETA). For further information, see ADEME’s detailed position statement.
What is the regulatory framework for R'BULL Pro 13?
The R'BULL Pro 13 holds European Technical Assessment ETA 22/0178 , issued under the Construction Products Regulation (EU) No 305/2011, which enables the CE marking to be used throughout the European Union. It is accompanied by its Declaration of Performance (DoP) and test reports covering thermal performance (KTU), reaction to fire (AITEX, classification B-s1,d0) and emissivity with solar factor (LNE). This framework provides your engineering consultancy, architect or project manager with all the necessary documentation to incorporate the product into a regulatory thermal analysis. All documents are available to download free of charge further up this page.
Do I need to use a professional for installation?
The roll is extremely light (14.5 kg) and is easy to install without a face mask or gloves, as it is non-irritating. However, having the installation carried out by an RGE-certified installer guarantees strict compliance with air gaps (crucial for performance) and makes you eligible for government grants (CEE).
