The 3-in-1 shield: sound, heat, vapour

The R'Acoustic Alu combines three functions in just 10 mm. Its thermo-bonded recycled textile fibre face, woven without glue, absorbs airborne noise (indicative manufacturer figure 23 dB) and attenuates impact noise (ΔLw index measured at 27 to 33 dB depending on the screed, CEIS Madrid test, ENAC). Its pure aluminium face reflects infrared radiation and forms a continuous barrier to water vapour. Understand R'BULL reflective technology.

Space saving and eco-design

Made from recycled textile fibres (wool, cotton, synthetics) thermo-bonded without glue, the R'Acoustic Alu reaches a high density of 130 kg/m³ for 1.30 kg/m², in a thickness of just 10 mm. REACH compliant (EC Regulation 1907/2006) and RoHS compliant (EU Directive 2011/65/EU). Indoor air quality index A. Ideal for insulating walls, ceilings and floor underlays without encroaching on living space.

Where to install the R'Acoustic Alu

Four main application zones: walls, ceilings, floors and under screed. Its versatility makes it a thermo-acoustic insulation suited to both renovations and new builds, installed indoors and protected by a thermal screen compliant with article AM8 (masonry partition, plasterboard or levelling screed).

CEIS Madrid test report

Verifiable measurements of thermal and acoustic performance. Report CAT0109/12, ENAC 1/LE1175 accreditation.

  • Conductivity λ = 0.0361 W/m·K (UNE-EN 12667)
  • Dynamic stiffness s' = 16 MN/m³ (UNE-EN 29052-1)
  • ΔLw 20 to 33 dB depending on screed density

Values marked “Measured by CEIS Madrid” are taken from test report CAT0109/12 dated 03/01/2013, from the CEIS laboratory, ENAC 1/LE1175 accredited. Values marked “manufacturer data” refer to internal Boltherm measurements provided for guidance only, not from an accredited independent test. The full report can be downloaded above.

Frequently asked questions about the R'Acoustic Alu

Technical, sourced and factual answers. The product's limitations are acknowledged without overselling.

What work is the R'Acoustic Alu really suited to ?

The R'Acoustic Alu is designed for four zones : walls (party partitions, dry lining), ceilings (separating partition between floors), under floating floors (attenuation of residual impact noise) and under levelling screed (the best documented case, ΔLw attenuation of 27 to 33 dB depending on screed density). It is not suited to roof insulation : the performance indicators and the E fire class do not justify it in that configuration.

Why quote 23 dB of airborne attenuation rather than a measured Rw ?

The Rw index is by definition measured on a complete tested wall in an independent laboratory (for example the R'Acoustic 20 has an Rw of 50 dB tested by LNEC on a specific configuration). For the R'Acoustic Alu, no Rw wall test has been carried out in an accredited laboratory. The 23 dB value is a Boltherm manufacturer figure from internal measurements, provided for guidance only. We display it in full transparency, without presenting it as a normative index. For impact noise, however, we have a verifiable figure : ΔLw 27 to 33 dB depending on screed density, calculated according to EN 12354-2:2001 from the dynamic stiffness s' = 16 MN/m³ measured by CEIS Madrid.

Can the R'Acoustic Alu be installed in ERP premises ?

Yes, provided installation complies with article AM8 of the French order (arrêté) of 25/06/1980, as amended. The R'Acoustic Alu is classified Euroclass E-s1-d0 under EN 13501-1:2002. Any insulation over 5 mm not classified A2-s2-d0 must be protected by a thermal screen providing ¼ hour of resistance on a vertical wall or ½ hour on a ceiling or floor. Standard configurations are compliant : masonry partition, plasterboard, levelling screed. For a precise specification for an ERP project, contact our technical support.

What is the difference from the R'Acoustic 20 or the R'Acoustic 10 ?

The three products make up Ceilingo's high-density textile acoustic sub-range, but with distinct positioning. The R'Acoustic 20 (20 mm, 90 kg/m³, Rw 50 dB tested by LNEC) is the best-performing product for airborne attenuation, dedicated to demanding acoustic requirements. The R'Acoustic 10 (10 mm, 110 kg/m³) is the thinnest version for restricted spaces. The R'Acoustic Alu (10 mm, 130 kg/m³, aluminium face) adds a reflective thermal function and a built-in vapour barrier, for configurations where the building envelope must also manage water vapour migration.

Can the R'Acoustic Alu replace a conventional thermal insulation ?

No. The R'Acoustic Alu is first and foremost an acoustic insulation. Its aluminium face provides a complementary reflective thermal function (conductivity λ = 0.036 W/m·K measured by CEIS Madrid, resistance R = 0.28 m²·K/W for 10 mm installed), useful as a supplementary insulation to block infrared radiation. But it does not replace a primary thermal insulation for roofs, loft spaces or external walls. For these uses, see the R'BULL technology in the reflective thermal range.

Compatible with a floating floor ?

Yes. Loose-laid under floating floors (laminate, engineered wood), aluminium face upwards. Impact noise attenuation varies depending on the density of the flooring (ΔLw 20 to 29.5 dB for dry floors, according to the CEIS report, informative annex EN 12354-2:2001). For flooring glued onto a screed, see the under levelling screed configuration, which is better documented.

Compatible with a levelling screed ?

Yes, this is the best documented configuration for the product. Installed under a sand-cement or anhydrite screed. Impact noise attenuation ranges between 27 and 33 dB depending on the density of the screed (60 to 160 kg/m³), calculated according to EN 12354-2:2001 from the dynamic stiffness measured by CEIS Madrid. The product's permissible compression (1,000 kg/m² at 10 % deformation, maximum 2,000 kg/m²) is compatible with typical loads on a habitable floor.
